Therapy sessions are offered exclusively by video using a secure HIPAA-compliant video platform. Research indicates that virtual therapy is just as effective as in-person therapy, with the added benefit of reducing the time and energy spent traveling to an office. Dr. Bauer provides services to adults physically located in Connecticut and Rhode Island.
Dr. Bauer offers a free 15-minute phone consultation to help determine if her approach is a good fit for your needs. Research consistently shows that the quality of the relationship between a client and provider is one of the most important factors in achieving positive therapy outcomes. If it seems like a good match after your consultation, we’ll schedule your first appointment. Before your session, you’ll receive practice documents to review and complete. Typically, it takes one to two sessions to conduct a thorough assessment, collaboratively identify your therapy goals, and develop a personalized treatment plan.
At this time, Healthwell Psychological Services, LLC offers therapy exclusively to individuals aged 18 and older. However, Dr. Bauer often provides therapy for parents navigating their own health issues or caring for children with health challenges. She offers guidance on how to navigate conversations with children about a parent’s health issues and supports parents in fostering well-being within their families.
Most clients begin therapy with sessions scheduled every 1-2 weeks for the first 8-12 weeks. As progress is made, sessions are generally spaced out further to allow for continued growth and independence. Once clients feel confident applying the skills they’ve learned in therapy, they often transition to an “as-needed” basis for additional support when necessary.
At this time, Healthwell Psychological Services, LLC operates as an out-of-network provider. Many insurance companies offer partial reimbursement for out-of-network mental or behavioral health services, though reimbursement rates vary. To better understand your coverage, it is recommended that you contact your insurance company and inquire about their specific reimbursement rates for out-of-network services provided by a licensed clinical psychologist.
The most commonly used billing codes include:
90791 with a 95 modifier for an initial consultation
90837 with a 95 modifier for follow-up psychotherapy sessions
If you would like to submit an out-of-network claim to your insurance company, a "superbill" can be provided for you to submit directly to them for potential reimbursement.
Under the No Surprises Act, you have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate of the total expected costs for non-urgent healthcare services. Under this law, healthcare providers need to give people who are uninsured or choose not to use insurance for their care an estimate of expected cost for their medical care, including therapy. If you are not using insurance for your sessions, you may request a Good Faith Estimate before scheduling a service. Should you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you have the right to dispute it.
